Cards In Envy - Yellow & Black Card Challenge

Cards In Envy Yellow & Black Challenge

Cards In Envy - Yellow & Black Card Challenge

I love yellow and black together!

While I was perusing one of email lists I get everyday of card challenges, my eye caught this one and I knew I wanted to participate. The project has to be flat meaning no lumps or bumps that are thicker than 1/4". The sequins are no problem as far as adding dimension.

I'm just going to enter the card above in this challenge even though I made two. This is my first time creating a card for this challenge.

What I find interesting and something that I like is that they have a list of upcoming challenge themes on their blog. Right now they are out to January 21, 2019! I love that I can find the themes I like and create a card further in advance. I wish more card challenge blogs would do this. I'd probably be able to participate in more. When you work full-time, some days are more exhausting than others. It's hard to make the deadlines of some of the challenges you want to play along with. Some evenings I just can't get any crafty time in. I don't always have the whole weekend to craft. Enough of that, on to my cards!

Products for both cards are identical except for the sentiment and the stencil I used. The first card uses a stencil from Hero Arts. I'm not sure what the name of it is. The second card uses a stencil from Heidi Swapp. Again I'm not sure what the name is. The image on both is from Rubbernecker Stamps called Floral #4. Both sentiments are from The Most Beauty stamp set by Reverse Confetti. I used Distress Oxide in fossilized amber for the background and VeraFine in onyx black for the sentiment.

Funky Glasses

(Spec) Tacular

This card is my favorite!

I've had the die for the glasses for some time.

When I went to a stamp show here in Minnesota in June I bought two sentiments that work perfectly with the dies. I went through my stamps and found that I like the sentiment above also.

Here's the crazy part. I have a stamp set that I bought a few years ago at the Taylored Expressions booth at one of the stamp shows I went to. I have the stamp set logged in my Evernote program (I am terribly behind in organizing my stamp sets etc in!) and I can't find it! It's a perfect set to use with this die, which is why I bought it in the first place. I've been looking through everything and I haven't come across it yet. I have no idea where I have misplaced it.

(Spec) Tacular

Backgrounds for all cards were created using distress oxide inks and water.

(Spec) Tacular

For the glasses I used some watercolor panels I had previously made.

I used more distress ink and a stencil to add patterns to the paper and then die cut the glasses.

(Spec) Tacular

On this card I used a Paper Trey Ink to add interest.

(Spec) Tacular

(Spec) Tacular

(Spec) Tacular

I used a Tim Holtz stencil over the background on this card.

Such a fun die! I'm continuing to look through my stamp sets to find more sentiments that I want to use. Hopefully I'll come across the set I can't find!

Simon Says Flicker Challenge #102 - You Are Wonderful

Wonderful

This is my card for the Simon Says Stamp Flicker Challenge #102!

The theme is "Favorite Technique".

My favorite technique is creating watercolor backgrounds with Distress Inks.

Wonderful

I just love all the different patterns that can be made by either dragging your card through the ink or by splashing or smooshing your card into the ink. I don't think I can ever get board creating watercolor backgrounds.

Wonderful

I just used two Distress Oxide inks for this background.

I created a frame that I popped up around my stamped sentiment.

I watercolored a second panel that I die cut the frame out of.

Wonderful

This card is linked to the Flicker Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Products used for this card:
Distress Oxide Ink: Mermaid Lagoon, Fossilized Amber
Our Daily Bread: Double Stitched Rectangle Dies

Big Hugs

fullsizeoutput_2309

I was able to get another card created for the Simon Says Stamp 100th Flickr Challenge!

I created a bunch of backgrounds and decided to go with this one.

fullsizeoutput_2306

I die cut a frame using the Double Stitched Rectangle dies from Our Daily Bread.

I used foam tape to pop the frame up to create some dimension.

The flowers are a Simon Says Stamp die called Modern Flowers.

Big Hugs is also a Simon Says Die called Scripty Big Hugs.

fullsizeoutput_230c

My watercolor background was created using Distress Oxide Inks.

After the inks had dried, I used the Simon Says Stamp Stencil called Square Dance and applied some Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste.

I love using stencils on my backgrounds!

Below are the products I used for this card

Floral Cards

You Make Me Smile

It's been a few months since I've posted anything on my blog.  I had this crazy idea that I was going to purge my craft room and then I was going to do the same to all the rooms in my house. Well, my project started out gangbusters but petered out just as quickly. I also told myself I couldn't craft until it was finished. Ha!

If I had time to just work on my purging project without interruptions I probably would have finished it by now. Too many things get in the way and I've found I only have time to work on it in chunks. I don't get much done during the week. I'm just too exhausted when I get home from work and going through things is the last thing that I want to do!

So, I just decided enough is enough and I miss crafting. It's my therapy and helps keep me sane. I'm just going to craft and slowly work on my project in between craft projects. Someday I'll get it finished.

For my card projects, I watercolored some flowers last night and let them dry naturally until I could die cut them tonight when I got home from work. I used distress oxide inks and Zig clean color brush markers for my color. The stamp and die set is one of my favorites from Gina K called Painted Autumn. I just love this set! I did some stenciling for the backgrounds. The stenciling on the card below is very subtle and on the card above the stenciling stands out more. I'll list the product names below.

I'm not sure where the stencil for the card below comes from, but I think it's from Stampin' Up. I didn't pay attention to the names of the ink colors I used, I just played around until I found three colors for each card that I liked together.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #229

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

It's hard to believe, but I used five dies for this card! I die cut the circle, the stitched banner, the hello sentiment, the flowers and leaves and the border on my background. All supplies are listed below.

For my background I used distress oxide inks. I added the ink to my craft mat and spritzed water on it. I then crumpled up some plastic wrap, dipped it into the various inks and then dabbed it onto my card panel. I wasn't quite sure what ink combinations I wanted to use. I looked on my Pinterest board that I  have set up called Color Combinations and decided to use one that I pinned from Simon Says Stamp. Since I don't have mustard seed in distress oxide, I substituted fossilized amber.

For my flowers and leaves I used a wreath die from Spellbinders. I just cut it apart and used what I wanted. I used the leftover scraps from by background pieces.

Smile

Smile

When I saw that The Color Throwdown Challenge was for red, black and white I knew I was going to create a card for it! Black and red are two of my favorite colors for cards. For quite awhile I've gone out of my comfort zone and used other colors because there for awhile I used these two colors a lot! I almost always use black. I will never not be able to do that.

Please take the time to check out the cards that their design team have created. They are just awesome and gorgeous!

Smile

For my card I used distress oxide ink with a stencil. After I made three other panels (which I will use for other cards), I made one more and settled on this one. I just couldn't make a decision on which I liked best! I inked up my stencil from The Crafter's Workshop spritzed it with water and then laid my cardstock on the stencil.

Smile

I used a die set from Simon Says Stamp called Perfect Shapes for the hexagons. This die set also has a matching stamp set. The wildflower is a die from Sizzix.

Smile

For my sentiment I used a stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. All products are listed below.

My card is linked to this challenge:

Simon Says Stamp - Choose Happy stamp set
Sizzix: Wildflower Tim Holz Alterations Die

Hello Friend

Hello Friend

I have another card for some challenges today! I was actually planning to use this card for the Color Throwdown challenge. After I had published my post and linked to all the challenges I realized I hadn't linked to the one I was originally going to! I thought no big deal, I'll just create a new card since I still had some time.

I had a whole list of challenges to link to and you can only link so many to some of the challenges. Some are unlimited. I tend to try to only link to one or up to three per card. If I had unlimited crafting time I would create one card per challenge, but I don't always have that kind of time unfortunately.

I used a Prima stencil with my Clarity brushes and some Distress Oxide ink to craft my background. I stamped the sentiment with Versafine onyx black ink heat embossed clear embossing powder. All supplies are listed below.

I've linked my card to the three challenges above. Please take time to check them out. There are some beautiful cards on each blog that their design teams have created.

Hello Friend

Distress Oxide Inks: twisted citron, fossilized amber, candied apple
Prima: Flourish Stencil
Our Daily Bread Designs: double stitched rectangles
Plus 9: Hand Lettered Hello stamp set

Spread Kindness

Spread Kindness

I created this card for two different challenges that I am linking to. The challenge over at CAS(E) this Sketch #234 is a sketch challenge (sketch is below). It's a great sketch!

For the second challenge over at CAS Watercolor Card Challenge, salt is added to the wet watercolor. I've done this technique before and I love the results!

I used three different colors of Kuretake Gansi Tambi on my card panel. While my panel was drying I accidentally got another panel with blue a little too close. There's a tiny bit of blue mixed at the bottom. All supplies are listed below.  For the salt I used table salt and water softener salt. The die is from Sizzix. It's Scribbles & Splat, a Tim Holtz Alterations die. Simon Says Stamp makes the sentiment that I used.

Supplies:
Cardstock

Stamp - Simon Says Stamp - Uplifting Thoughts
Die - Sizzix - Tim Holtz Alterations Scribbles & Splat
Die - Our Daily Bread Designs - Double Stitched Rectangles

Your Face Makes Me Smile

Your Face....

I created this card for the Design Team Call over at Kat Scrappiness. In order to enter you had to create a new project. I like to combine cards I create with a few other challenges if I find something that is interesting me. Most of the time I just do one or two challenges at a time with one blog post. Today's card is also linked to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Splatter It. The challenge also uses Ranger products and of course splatter on your card. I'm also linking my card to the Simon Says Flickr group challenge.

For my Ranger product I used Distress Oxide Inks. Five inks were used. My card base was splattered with peacock feathers and spiced marmalade. Splattering is messy and so much fun! For my card panel I used three inks - frayed burlap, vintage photo and antique linen.

Your Face....

The die I used is the Sizzix Tim Holtz wildflowers. I splattered it with peacock feathers and spiced marmalade. Foam tape was added so that my card panel is popped up. The splatters peek from behind the Sizzix Tim Holtz mixed media die cut that I used on my card panel. Sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp called Choose Happy. The bling I used is called sparkling clear droplets from Kat Scrappiness. All products are listed below.

Your Face....

I just love these clear droplets! They are my new favorite embellishment!

Supplies:
Cardstock
Stamp - Simon Says Stamp - Choose Happy
Versafine Onyx Black Ink
Distress Oxide Ink: spiced marmalade, antique linen, vintage photo, frayed burlap, peacock feathers

You Brighten My Day

You Brighten My Day

Here's my take on the sketch for the Freshly Made Sketches 298 Challenge. I'm also linking up to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

I love sketch challenges! It's even better when I look at a sketch and know exactly what I want to do. Anything Goes challenges are my favorite too! I love being able to just do my own thing.

I did die cut my "you" three times and adhered it together for more dimension. The rest of sentiment was stamped and heat embossed. I used a stencil for my diagonal strip. Supplies are listed below.

Be sure to take time to check out the beautiful cards on both challenge blogs by clicking the links below. Their design teams do some gorgeous work!

CASE(E) this Sketch! #232

Coffee

My card today is for the CAS(E) this Sketch! Challenge #232.

I've made some clean and simple (CAS) cards, but never, ever have I made a card that it this clean and simple! It was so super simple and fast! It's a great sketch. I can think of tons of stamps that I could use with it. Distress Oxide ink was used to stamp the coffee cup. That ink is so creamy, I love stamping with it. This stamp is so hilarious because it's such a true statement! I feel like this every.day.of.my.life......   Love Funny Bones stamps! Supplies are listed below.

Spread Kindness

Spread Kindness

I took the extra panel that I had leftover after creating this card and used it to diecut the flower image for this card. After I diecut the flowers the ink seemed a little light. I added more ink to my craft mat and ran the diecut through the ink to get it darker. For the background I used the same inks with a Tim Holtz layering stencil. I'm constantly losing things in my craft room! After looking for my PITT pen and not being able to find it, I took a Tim Holtz distress marker went around the stenciled image to make dashes. All supplies are listed below.

These cards are linking up to the challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More ATSM - Anything Goes, Stamping Sensations: July - Anything with Flowers! and the Simon Says Flicker challenge SSSflickrchallenge#76 Anything Goes.
