Find Joy Mixed Media Canvas

 

Right from the start I'm going to mention that I'm not a huge pink and purple fan. I have nothing against the two colors, they just aren't ones that I'm drawn to naturally. 

The background on this canvas was made probably well over a year ago. I've had this canvas and another one just waiting to have something done with them. At the time I was playing around with distress inks (I don't remember what the colors are that I used) and they turned out a little different than I expected. I just set them both aside knowing that someday I would get back to them and create something. 

I used a stencil called mini bricks by The Crafters Workshop with some Golden light molding paste on both corners of this canvas. The paste picked up the color on the canvas. 

I stamped randomly around the canvas with a Tim Holtz stamp. I don't have the name of the stamp as I don't have the packaging anymore. I then splattered black soot Distress ink over the canvas.

 

 

The flowers are from Little Birdie. I believe I picked them up at Tuesday Morning. 

The metal frame I've had in my stash for awhile. It's from Momenta.

I used Tim Holtz Quote Chips for the sentiments. I cut two sentiments apart. 

The photo is from an ephemera packet that I picked up back in 2013 when I went to a show called Junk Bonanza that is held twice a year here is the Twin Cities area. 

 

I thought the quote fit the photo. The two women look like friends having a good time!

Now I have one more project off my list! 

I have another canvas that is almost finished. I have everything ready to go to finalize it, but I have to wait for the molding paste to dry. I will share it once I'm done with it.

When I saw that The Color Throwdown Challenge was for red, black and white I knew I was going to create a card for it! Black and red are two of my favorite colors for cards. For quite awhile I've gone out of my comfort zone and used other colors because there for awhile I used these two colors a lot! I almost always use black. I will never not be able to do that. 

Please take the time to check out the cards that their design team have created. They are just awesome and gorgeous!

 

For my card I used distress oxide ink with a stencil. After I made three other panels (which I will use for other cards), I made one more and settled on this one. I just couldn't make a decision on which I liked best! I inked up my stencil from The Crafter's Workshop spritzed it with water and then laid my cardstock on the stencil. 

 

I used a die set from Simon Says Stamp called Perfect Shapes for the hexagons. This die set also has a matching stamp set. The wildflower is a die from Sizzix. 

For my sentiment I used a stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. All products are listed below.

Blue Butterfly - Thanks A Bunch

 

This was a fun card to create! No challenge for this one as this is another card for a card order I'm working on. 

The butterfly adds so much texture! I used two different stencils for this background. I used Mini Chickenwire reversed from The Crafter's Workshop on the background and a butterfly from Heidi Swapp. There is a combination of the stencil and some distress ink splattered on watercolor cardstock. 

For the butterfly I mixed some Golden Light Molding Paste with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in broken china. The bling is from My Mind's Eye. For the sentiment I used a stamp from the Hero Arts set called Thanks A Bunch CL663.

Unscripted Sketches #234

Love the sketch from Unscripted Sketches this week! It's a very simple, versatile sketch to use for any occasion. I used Golden Light Molding Paste with a stencil called Mini Harlequin from The Crafter's Workshop. 

I picked up three or four stencils a few months ago to experiment with. I love the texture and the dimension that it creates on a project. 

I added some washi tape from Queen & Co. for my borders. I'm really trying to use washi tape on more projects. I have a good amount of it and it seems such a waste not to use it. 

I really like the look of the random spots of molding paste that come through the stencil. The pattern isn't all uniform and I like that.
