Unscripted Sketches #253 - You Are Simply The Best....Thank You

First off, thanks to everyone who played along with the Unscripted Sketches Blog-iversary Sketch this past week! We really appreciate it!

Congratulations to Pam! She is the winner of the Hero Arts Sympathy Stamp Set! Please contact me by 6 pm Sunday, April 20th with your mailing information. If I don't hear from you I will choose another winner. Here's what Pam said:

"Great stenciling! What a lovely card. Congrats on your 5th year. I've subscribed to your blog via email for a long time and follow on FB. Would love to win this set. Sympathy cards are often so hard to make (shared on on my blog -http://pamspaperandink.blogspot.com/2014/04/with-love-sympathy.html recently). Love the sentiments in this set."

I also want to let you know that this will be my last week as a member of the Unscripted Sketches Design Team. I've had a great time the last five months creating a card from their sketches each week and am grateful that I had the opportunity.  Now for my interpretation of this week's sketch!

I can't resist creating with kraft, black and red.....ever!

I am so in love with stencils! For this card I used the Tim Holtz Burlap Layering Stencil. Instead of using ink I chose to use Claudine Hellmuth's Studio Black Gesso. Love that stuff!

The pennants are called Nested Pennants from Spellbinders. These cute little dimensional butterflies are by Recollections.

I used a Technique Tuesday stamp set called Mama = Love by Ali Edwards for my sentiment and finished the card off by adding some sequins. I sure have a ton of those. When you buy a package you get a million! I better start using them more so I can make a dent in my stash of them :)

Unscripted Sketches #251 - Sharing In Your Sorrow

Hello and happy Saturday! It's time for another sketch design from Unscripted Sketches. I toyed with several different variations of how I wanted to work with this sketch and this is what I settled on. It was a hard decision for me.

I chose to use a chevron cutting plate from Taylored Expressions for the bottom half of my card. The design covers the whole card, but I only used a half sheet of card stock when I cut the design.

For the patterned paper I used Bella Bohemia from The Paper Studio. I love the colors in this collection!

To create my flower I used scalloped circles from Spellbinders. I spritzed the circles with water, scrunched them and dried them with my heat tool. You can also let them air dry.

Unscripted Sketches #250

This may have been the easiest and fastest card I've ever made! I think it took me about 10 minutes. I was happy about that because I've been exhausted the last few weeks and have barely even been in my craft room at all. The Unscripted Sketch this week is a very easy one with tons of possibilities.

I used a Heidi Swapp stencil and Tim Holtz Distress Ink for my background dots. The circles were die cut using Nestabilities circle and lacey circles.  The sentiment is from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and I used Rain Dots as my "bling".

Unscripted Sketches #249

I really LOVE this new stamp set I bought from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps!

For my background I used textured paper from DCWV. This pad of paper called The Old World Stack really has some beautiful patterns. Overall I think my card is fairly clean and simple even if it does use quite a few enamel dots! The flower is from Hero Arts that I've had for a few years. It's from a package called Art Flowers - Vintage Collage. I love the rusty, brown and yellow color! I stamped my sentiment on a piece of vintage cream cardstock from PTI  that I die cut using the Lacey Squares die from Spellbinders. Great sketch from Unscripted Sketches this week. Hope you play along with us!

Unscripted Sketches #248 - Happy Birthday

Time for another weekly sketch from Unscripted Sketches! I saw so many possibilities for this one! I almost went with a layout, but changed my mind at the last minute and made a card.

For my alternating shapes I used the nested pennants die from Spellbinders. The patterned paper is from Echo Park Dots collection. The sentiment is from the Hero Arts stamp set called It's Your Day.

Unscripted Sketches #247 - Friend

I decided on a super easy design for the Unscripted Sketch this week. I love vertical sentiments and I'd like to find more more of them. I know I'd get a lot of use out of them.

Using just two colors and no patterned paper made for a very quick card to put together. I stamped the design with Hero Arts Blooming Meadow stamp, cut it apart and adhered the pieces to the black card stock with pop dots to add dimension. The sentiment is also from Hero Arts and is called Friends.

Unscripted Sketches #246 - Dogs Leave Paw Prints On Our Hearts

Time for Sketch it Saturdays with Unscripted Sketches! For me, this was very CAS sketch. I know that I'll be using it over and over again.

I used a stamp set from Our Daily Bread called Dog Sympathy. Love this set!

The green card stock is ColorCore by Tim Holtz for Core'dinations. I ran it through my Big Shot using an embossing folder from Darice and then sanded it.

Unscripted Sketches #245 - You're Out Of Sight

This is my take on the Unscripted Sketch this week. This is such a cute stamp and die set from Taylored Expressions! I've always loved funky glasses and while I'd love to have a pair like these, I don't think they'd look very good on me. I don't think my face has the right shape.

The checked patterned paper is from Graphic 45's French Country collection. I think it pairs nicely with the burlap.

My plan today is to get some crafty time in and get some cards finished. I'm also hoping to started creating a new mini book using a Graphic 45 collection I've had for awhile. It's so ridiculously cold out that I don't even want to venture out to the grocery store much less anywhere else. This winter has been a long one and one that just doesn't seem to want to go away.

Hope you'll join us this week with your take on the sketch above. All the details are on the blog post over at Unscripted Sketches!

Unscripted Sketches #243

I haven't had a lot of crafting time lately so I got this card done for the Unscripted Design Team just in the nick of time! I've also been struggling with just getting myself organized and getting the creative juices flowing. I've joined a few more monthly swaps in the hopes that it will help me get out of the funk that I'm in.

For this card I used Graphic 45's Little Darlings collection. It's one of my favorites! I used one of the chipboard pieces and cut out several of the images from different sheets of the card stock. The butterflies are from a Martha Stewart punch.

Unscripted Sketches #242 - Wishing You Brighter Days

I tinted some Golden Gel Mediums Light Molding Paste yellow using dandelion ink from Memento to create my circle background on this card. I used the negative from a Spellbinders circle die cut out of cardboard that I taped over the TCW mini chevron stencil and then applied the molding paste. I love it! This stuff is so fun to work with. The purple branch is a Die-Namites die called summer branch.

Unscripted Sketches #241

Here's my take on the Unscripted Sketch for the Design Team this week. I went out of my comfort zone and used purple. I'm not sure why, but I just don't use that color very much. I often say that purple isn't one of my favorite colors. I'm actually kind of neutral about it. I wanted something colorful for this card and I think I achieved that using the green and orange.

To add dimension I just secured the center of the butterflies to the card and added a button with some twine.

Unscripted Sketches #240

The patterned paper I used for this card is by Cosmo Cricket called Circa 1934. It's a few years old, but I still love it! I have plenty of sheets left and I know I'll be creating more cards with it. This is my interpretation of the Unscripted Sketch this week.

I used the Tim Holtz Alteration On The Edge Die called Torn Notebook for the top edge of my paper.  I ripped the bottom edge. Then I inked the edges and ruffled the torn notebook edge.

The sentiment and image is from the Sweet 'n Sassy stamp set called Celebrate Today.

Unscripted Sketches #239

Here's my take on this week's sketch from Unscripted Sketches. I used Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Core'dinations ColorCore card stock with a Darice and a Sizzix Tim Holtz embossing folder. After running them through my eBosser I then sanded the card stock to bring out the kraft color.

I used pop dots to add dimension to the strips of paper that I cut and adhered to the kraft strip.

Unscripted Sketches #238

I haven't had a lot of time to craft this week and I'm not sure why. That being said, I just got my card finished for the Unscripted Sketches DT by the skin of my teeth!

This is the first sketch for the new year! I picked up this new stamp set from Hero Arts a few weeks ago at Archiver's. I've been trying to add birthday stamps to my stamp collection. I seem to have more Christmas, Sympathy and Thank You stamps than any other kind. Those of my favorite cards to make, so that's why!

If you're familiar with Archiver's I'm sure you were just as heartbroken as I am (and many others!) when you heard the news that they're closing. I'm really going to miss that store and all the inspiration they provided. There's nothing else out there like them. So many women looked forward to their annual event called Scrapfest each September. We need something to replace that now. I'll be back to exclusively online shopping again as there's nothing in the area that really compares to the products that they carry. The big box stores just don't cut it when it comes to most quality products from the scrapbook manufacturer's. I was so happy when I moved back to Minnesota after living in Wisconsin because I was back where I could actually find items I use locally. When I was in Wisconsin I bought most everything online. I didn't even have a big box store close by without driving 70 miles. Sorry for the rant, but I'm really going to miss them!
