Trio Of Cards Using Jillibean Soup Cardstock

Find Joy Every Day

My intention was to make these cards without doing any inking on them. It didn't last! I love the look of the white, but to me they just needed that touch of black around the edge to make them pop a little.

Thank You

To stamp the image for each card I used Smooch Ink. I really like how the image doesn't stamp completely. I also like that some parts are thicker and some are lighter. I think I'll experiment with other images using Smooch.

Thinking of You

When creating these, my first thought was to just have the die cut opening with the plaid pattern showing through. They really looked plain. That's when I tried the white frame around the openings and to me they looked so much better!

Sorry for the sporadic posts and long periods in between each one. My husband has been ill and I craft and blog when I get a chance. Because of that you may see several posts in a row and then a week or more without anything. Hoping things turn around soon and we'll be back to normal.

Thanks for stopping by!

Recipe Pocket Mini Book

Recipe Pocket Mini
Today I'm going to share a little mini album that I created. I'm calling it a Recipe Pocket Mini Book. I saw this book last year in the PaperCrafts Magazine "Holiday Cards & More" issue. If you have that issue it's on page 109. It was designed by Kim Kesti. My version is a little different than the one Kim created.

The photo above shows the front and below is the back.

There are four pockets on one side.
Recipe Pocket Mini pg 3 & 4
....and four more on the other side.
Recipe Pocket Mini pg 5 & 6

Recipe Pocket Mini pg 7 & 8
I used the So Delish collection from TPC Studios. The papers I used are called: Spice Rack, Utensils, Stripe, Everything But The Kitchen Sink and What's Baking.

I diecut the cork and cardstock with my scalloped circle Nestabilities. The stamped words are from a stamp set from Fiskars called Recipe Madness. The edges on the pockets were cut using my EK Success edge punch called Brackets. The letters that spell "Favorite" on the cover are from Jillibean Soup called Kraft Mini Black Alpha Cardstock Stickers. The letters that spell "Recipes" on the cover were diecut using letter dies from Sizzix called Cat 'n Mouse.

This is a super simple little mini to make:

You'll need two 5" x 12" strips of cardstock that you will score every 5 inches. You'll end up with two-2" flaps. Adhere one of the two inch flaps to one of the five inch squares of cardstock. That will give you one long accordion strip. I cut another five inch piece of cardstock and adhered it to the other two inch flap to create my front cover. Decorate as desired.

Recipe Pocket Mini
It's a cute little mini book. I didn't design it as a permanent holder for recipes. It will be a place to temporarily hold a recipe until I can decide if I want to make it or toss it. I'm constantly clipping recipes from magazines, etc. Instead of just piling them up, I thought this would be a perfect place for them. It would also make a great gift for someone.

Halloween Mini Book

P10108691
I made a chunky
P10108701
and I mean very chunky
P10108711
Halloween Mini Book! I had cardstock from Canvas Corp that I received while at Scrapfest. In every class that you take you go away with alot of free product. I guess it's their way of thanking you for taking their class.

The diecut on the cover is one of the Fancy Tags from Spellbinders. I used alphabet stickers from Jillibean and EK Success. I used my We R Memory Keepers Cinch to bind the book.
P10108721
I never make anything for Halloween. This was fun to make even if I had to do alot of improvising. I have no products or supplies that are Halloween related. I picked up a few items that I scattered throughout the book like the ghost ribbon shown above. I used four-inch chipboard coasters for the pages. I diecut the cardstock using my scallop square Framelits from Sizzix. I added alot of pockets throughout the book for photo mats.
P10108731
For this page I got a little creative. The Happy Halloween tag is from a bag of spider rings I bought. I cut the ring off the spider and used my hot glue gun to adhere him to the tag to cover up the price. I used my circle Nestabilities for the back of the tag. I then used paper tape to cover up the date on the tag.
P10108741
For this page I used a Tim Holtz Edge Die called Ornate for the top of the pocket. I also made my own paper bags. I have three in the book. I have some Kraft bags from Canvas Corp but I wanted them to be made out of the cardstock. I took one of the bags apart and used it as a template (shown below). You can kind of see the spider web peeking through on the right page. It's a sticker from Scrapbook 101. I also hot glued a spider to it.

P10108751
Here I added one of the ghosts from the ribbon to the center of a Hero Arts flower. On the right I've added an accordion fold out book.
P10108761
There are six spots for photos or journaling in the fold out.
P10108771
Here I've added some bat ribbon and used it as a place for a photo mat. On the right I used a Making Memories chipboard shape as a pocket. I've added flowers with beads for the centers.
P10108781
For the last two pages I left one blank and added the third bag with a tag. For the final page I thought I'd make a mummy which also serves a place to tuck a tag in. My husband laughed at my mummy. He said it looked like a board with eyes. Oh well, I tried! LOL :)

There are about 20 spots for photos or journaling in this little book. For someone who's really not much of  a Halloween person I think it turned out pretty cute. Now I just have to figure out what to do with it!

I did add a video of this mini book to my YouTube channel if you'd like to check it out. Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to go to the linky parties below to be inspired by all the beautiful projects and wonderful recipes that are added to each party.

New Mini Book

P1010021-1
I just finished a new mini book that I adore! I was thinking to myself that it might just be my favorite one to date. Then it hit me that I have another one that I made that I haven't even shared yet, that I also love. With so many choices, it's hard to choose! I'll be posting that one soon, once I get all my photos in it.

For this one I do know what photos I want to add to it, but I'm going to have to do some digging to get them altogether. That's going to be a project for another day!
7Gypsies Mini
This mini has twelve pages, nine pockets and twenty-two journaling or photo mats! It may be small, but it's going to hold alot photos. I used an older paper line from 7Gypsies called Zanzibar. I think it has a vintage feel to it which I like. I do like to ink the edges of everything I create, which may or may not appeal to everyone. I just instinctively do it without even thinking.

Here's a list of the products I used to make this book:
Jillibean Soup Corrigated Flowers
Tim Holtz Products:
Vintage Photo Ink, Tiny Attacher, Clips, Tattered Florals Die
7Gypsies Products:
Zanzibar Patterned Paper, Zanzibar Brads, Binding Rings

Canvas Corp Jute Rope

It's The Little Things.....

Don't you just love it when you can use up scraps? I made this card quite awhile ago and I'm just now getting around to posting it. I still have a few more left in my stash that I'll be sharing at a later date.
it's the little.....
I used leftover flowers from Graphic 45 and Jillibean Soup that I previously used for another project. I created the centers using my Nestabilities. For the 'grass', I used some small pieces of kraft that I ran through my Big Shot using my D'vine Swirls embossing folder. Don't you just love the Farmer's Twine! I just bought some more of it in all different colors. I just adore that stuff!

Clean & Simple Sketch FTL112 Challenge

Here's my submission for the Clean & Simple Sketch FTL 112 Challenge this week.
Merry & Bright
Here's the sketch:
FTL112 CleanandSimple

I really enjoy creating cards for the Clean & Simple Challenges. When I saw this sketch I knew exactly what I wanted to do. After getting started, I had a very frustrating time! I thought I had some star punches, turns out I didn't. So, I thought, not a big deal, I'll just make the stars with my Making Memories Slice Design Cutter. What a fiasco! That turned into a hour long unproductive mess of nothing. Finally, I gave up and just drew my stars freehand.

I then emailed the company because I have had nothing but bad luck with this machine. Their response was not a favorable one, I'm afraid. In hindsight, I wish when my had husband asked me which machine I wanted, either a Cricket or Slice, I had chose the Cricket. Thankfully I haven't spent alot buying cartridges for the Slice, because I really don't see myself using it much it at all. Having worked with these machines, I know all too well the problems they have and how many times the company had to be contacted. I hadn't used mine too much at that time and now I wish I would have, because I would have returned it. If you have one and you haven't had any issues, good for you! I'm not sure how many people can say that.

Of course, just a little too late, I discovered I have a Sizzix die for stars. You can always count on the old reliable Sizzix dies!

I'll be dropping this card off at The Baker's Wife for display.

Clean & Simple Sketch Challenge FTL110

I know I'm not the only one that does this, and that is to over embellish cards. I start out with good intentions, but many changes take place while working on my card. So, to keep myself in check, I always hop over to the Clean & Simple Stamping Blog to see the sketches that are posted. I'm always amazed at how a simple, less is more card can look so fantastic.

The card I created below uses the Clean & Simple Sketch FTL110.

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #131

Here's a card I created for the Taylored Expressions Challenge. I hope you stop by and check out all the beautiful cards the Design Team made.

Merry Christmas

Here's the sketch I worked from:

TESC131 10.15.10

This was a fun sketch to work with. I used some new Jillibean Soup patterned paper called Christmas Chestnut Soup Sprig of Parsley. This paper is so cute and I have more patterns to work with, so look for more cards from this collection.

Thank goodness my stickles were dry. I sat my card on the counter and I have a very naughty cat who decided to sit on the card and untie the bow. If the stickles would have been wet, he would have had a glittery butt. I guess it would have served him right! Anyone want a cat???

Supplies used for this card: Doublemates Berry Red Cardstock, Kraft Cardstock, Jillibean Soup Christmas Chestnut Soup Sprig of Parsley Patterned Paper, Reminisce Glitter Factory Precious Jade Paper, Twine, Ric Rac, Memento Ink in Rhubarb Stalk, We Re Memory Keepers "Happy Holiday" & "St. Nick" Clear Stamps, Stickles in Xmas Red, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo, Hero Arts Olive Green Gemstones, Gelly Roll Clear Stardust Pen.

I'll be dropping this card off at The Baker's Wife where it will be on display. I'd like to thank Phyllis, the owner for giving me the opportunity to create items at my leisure with her supplies.

Layouts Using BasicGrey's Cappella Collection

Here are two layouts I've created for display at The Baker's Wife. For both of them I've used BasicGrey's Cappella Collection. I love the "earthiness" look of this paper. I have to say I was a little out of my comfort zone with these layouts. As I working on these, I noticed that I generally gravitate to using solid backgrounds with a small amount of patterned paper when I scrapbook. I tried to use more patterns with these and found I like it.

For the first layout I chose to use some photos from a recent walk we took on The Bearskin Trail on a beautiful sunny fall afternoon.

Walk

The second layout uses photos from a recent visit we had with family from Minnesota. We took a trip to Little Bohemia in Manitowish Waters, WI where we had a wonderful lunch. We then took a tour of the room where the John Dillinger shootout occurred.

Products used for these layouts: BasicGrey's Cappella Collection Patterned Papers: Falsetto, Aria, Dolce, Primadonna, Brave!, Bellini, Chorus, Pageantry, Venetian, Timpani, Forte, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Crushed Olive & Vintage Photo, Making Memories Edge Distressor, Dreamstreet Papers Alphabet, We R Memory Keepers Eyelets, Corrugated Paper, Jillibean Soup Corrugated Shapes, Graphic 45 Staples Flowers, BasicGrey Painted Brads.

Cards To Share

I have four cards to share with you. These cards will be on display at The Baker's Wife, so if you're local and you want to take a closer look at them, stop in.

The first one is a pocket card. Love this idea! I saw this style in the Spring 2009 issue of Just Cards! I can think of many other themes to use for this one.

Thanks...Good Friend

I love the way this next card turned out! I really like the Staples line from Graphic 45 and the corrugated shapes from Jillibean Soup. This one is probably one of my favorites.

Sunshine & Laughter

On this next card I used the metal page edger from 7 Gypsies. I was going to use them on a mini book, but decided they would work just fine on a card. Fun product to work with!

Sorry For Your Loss

My final card uses one of my favorite patterned papers from GCD Studios. This is a very simple card, but sometimes less is best.

Happy Anniversary

Graphic 45 Black Policy Envelope Album

G45 Blk Policy Envelope Book

Here's a mini-book I created using the Black Policy Envelope Album from Graphic 45. Fun little book and of course it's in my favorite color!

I didn't stick with just once collection of paper for this book. I used patterned papers from SEI, GCD Studios, Fiskars, 7 Gypsies and solid cardstock from DoubleMates. The pages hold fold out journaling and photo mats and there are several pages with tags that I cut from Nestabilities Labels One.

This mini-book will be on display at The Baker's Wife later today. If you're from the area, pop in and take a peak, maybe it'll inspire you to create one!
