Christmas Tags

I love creating Christmas tags for gifts! Maybe it's just the satisfaction of finishing something in a short amount of time. I used my Sizzix die to cut the tags. The deer were cut from Recollections Botanica Noel (below) patterned card stock and from Krafty Christmas (above) card stock from Canvas Corp.

The sentiment is from Sweet 'n Sassy called Christmas Silhouettes. The deer were cut using the coordinating die.

For this tag I used patterned card stock from Recollections called Botanica Noel. The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday called Jingle All the Way.

These tags also uses the same stamp set from Technique Tuesday. The stars in the center were covered with glossy accents and then covered with distress glitter from Tim Holtz. I really LOVE that glitter! I definitely have to get more colors. All card stock is from Paper Trey Ink. 

I'm hoping to work on some more tags and maybe some cards today. I'm so behind on cards this year. I'm not even confident that I'll have many handmade Christmas cards to send out. I might have to shoot for next year at this point. It's kind of sad really because Christmas cards are one of my favorite type to create. Who says you can't make them year round? There are no rules in crafting!

Unscripted Sketches #230

This is my first card for the Design Team over at Unscripted Sketches! I really LOVE their sketches and I know I am just going to have so much fun working with them every week. I just wish I could find a place where I could get a decent photo. It seems like I can never get the lighting right.

I used some Krafty Christmas card stock from Canvas Corp. Kraft and red are two of my favorite combinations. I also love the patterns together! I used just a hint of Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink around the edges just to make them stand out. The stamp is from a new set I just bought from Technique Tuesday. One can never have enough Christmas stamps!

Tag Swap

This is my tag for my very first tag swap I participated in. I can see where joining in these swaps could become addictive. It was tons of fun! The tags I received are shown below.

In this particular swap there were ten people. There was a Christmas/Hanukkah and a Winter group. When those two filled up a second Christmas/Hanukkah one was organized. That's how I was able to join. I was leery to join and kept dragging my feet.

I really love these Vintage/Retro Stamper's Anonymous stamps. I'm getting better at making things grungy and my inking technique is getting better with practice. In the photo above I inked some grunge paper with Distress Stain to use for my sentiment. I also adhered some Kraft colored tissue paper to my tag and stamped the music notes on it.

Here I used some tulle for my bow and hung charm pin up brad to hold the mini bell.

You can't see it very well in the photo, but I used some Distress Stickles on the top of the tag. In these photos you can see how adhering the sentiment this way really adds some nice dimension.

{Scraplifted} Rustic Poinsettia Cards

This is my version of a card that I scraplifted from the Holiday Cards & More issue from PaperCrafts Magazine. If you have this issue you can find the card on page 27.

The black one is my favorite! I picked up this Hero Arts stamp set when I was at Scrapfest in September. There are six sentiments so I decided to use all of them and vary the colors of the card bases, burlap and poinsettias. Below are five variations.

Of course I couldn't stop there! I kept putting different combinations together and I ended up making 21 cards. 

I had some felt already in my stash of supplies and I had bought a yard of burlap the last time I was at Joann's. The red and green burlap I actually found at the Dollar Store!

Layout: Sunday Lunch

I didn't take many photos when I went to KY in May. I used my iPhone for all the ones I did take. Looking back I wish I would have used my camera and that I would have taken more.

My Aunt Wanda, daughter Hannah and I went to a Flea Market. After shopping we stopped at Cracker Barrel for lunch. I had Hannah take the photo of Wanda and me. A very nice woman and her husband came by and offered to take the one of all three of us. I was inspired to do a layout, in a style called shabby chic. Whenever something new looks old (shabby chic) I love it.

This layout is loosely based on the sketch below from Scrapbooks Etc. They have many more to choose from that you can see here.

I used the Mariposa stack from DCWV for the patterned paper and the Colorful Life stack for the lettering. I diecut the letters using Cat 'n Mouse from Sizzix.

I used up the scraps I had to make four flowers - two orangish-pink and two teal. I used Nestablilities scalloped circles and dictionary paper for the flowers. I had a package of pearlized white stamens in my stash so I added them to the centers. 

For the other flowers above I used the Art Flowers Vintage Collage from Hero Arts. The button in the center is from Favorite Findings. I had purchased the crotchet flowers from a shop in Etsy. The teal flowered center is a flower from Prima. I added a Vintage Black Pearl Trinket Pin from Maya Road. 

The green flower I picked up somewhere, but I'm not sure where or who the manufacturer is. The brad in the center of the Hero Arts flower is from Bazzill. You can also see a small portion of the faux pearls I used from Recollections.

Here's one of the teal flowers I made and a white one from Prima. Other products used on this layout include   a calendar card from Jenni Bowlin, Canvas Fringe from Canvas Corp, and a small rose from My Moments. I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Tim Holtz for all the inking on the edges of the flowers and patterned paper. Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities Labels Four and Grand Squares were used to diecut some of the patterned paper.
