Cardabilities Sketch #114

Cardabilities: Sketch #114

I love the sketches from the Cardabilities blog. I was able to get this one done by the skin of my teeth! I was procrastinating a little because I had too many cards I was working on at once.

I see so many possibilities with this sketch. I want to create more cards with it. I used PaperTrey Ink cardstock for my base in white. The colored cardstock is from the Jewel Colored Cardstock Mattock by DCWV. Love the texture of this cardstock! I used Nestabilities to cut my circles, the foliage and the pennant. The Thanks sentiment was cut from a die from Simon Says Stamp. The pearl bling is from Hero Arts and the ribbon is just a piece of scrap from my stash.

Stop by and check out the other cards from their design team and other contributors for this challenge. The cards are gorgeous! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Trio Of Cards Using Jillibean Soup Cardstock

Find Joy Every Day

My intention was to make these cards without doing any inking on them. It didn't last! I love the look of the white, but to me they just needed that touch of black around the edge to make them pop a little.

Thank You

To stamp the image for each card I used Smooch Ink. I really like how the image doesn't stamp completely. I also like that some parts are thicker and some are lighter. I think I'll experiment with other images using Smooch.

Thinking of You

When creating these, my first thought was to just have the die cut opening with the plaid pattern showing through. They really looked plain. That's when I tried the white frame around the openings and to me they looked so much better!

Sorry for the sporadic posts and long periods in between each one. My husband has been ill and I craft and blog when I get a chance. Because of that you may see several posts in a row and then a week or more without anything. Hoping things turn around soon and we'll be back to normal.

Thanks for stopping by!

Fusion {Hypothesis #2} Challenge

So Sorry For Your Loss

Whew! Just finished my card for the Fushion Card Challenge! We've had company the last few days so I haven't had as much time as usual to craft. When I saw this sketch I knew I wanted to participate and thankfully I got it done by the skin of my teeth!

I been trying to use some of my older patterned paper up. For the maroon paper I found a sheet called Cinnamon Stick from Cloud 9 Design in my stash. I pair it with a sheet called Spook Alley from Making Memories. You'd never know that is was Halloween paper!

I used my EK Success open scallop punch for the edges. The circles were cut with the small scalloped circle Nestabilities. For the paw prints I used a stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs called Paw Prints. I also used another of their stamps for the inside sentiment. It reads: With sympathy for your Faithful and Loyal Friend. The sentiment on the front of the card is from Hero Arts - With Sympathy - CL476. The cardstock for the base of the card is from PTI in Kraft.

Mother's Day Card

Happy Mother's Day

I'm back with another card using patterned paper from the Domestic Goddess Collection from Graphic 45. Hopefully you won't be tired of seeing cards with this paper! I pulled it out of my stash the other day when I participated in a challenge. I love all the patterns so I decided to create a few more cards using it.

I love mixing patterns! I've had a few comments from people before that have questioned some of my choices. I  guess my thoughts on that are if you like it, don't worry about what others think!

Happy Mother's Day

I love making flowers. This is one that I learned to make several years ago. For the sentiment I used the Fancy Tags from Spellbinders. I die cut it on cream cardstock and then again on patterned paper. I cut the center out of the one from the patterned paper and then adhered it onto the cream one. For the flower I used scalloped circles from Nestabilities.

I used Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink around all the edges. The gemstones are from The Paper Studio and Queen & Co. I created the sentiment on the computer using one of the many fonts I have downloaded.

April Birthday Cards......And I'm Even Early!

Happy Birthday Using Washi Tape

This will probably never happen again! I have my April birthday cards for the swap I'm in done early. One birthday is the 4th and one is the 9th and I mailed them today! I'm not sure if they read my blog or not, so I won't say who is getting which card.

For the one above I used PTI for my base and the argyle embossing folder from Cuttlebug. The flower is from Prima (love their flowers!) and the gemstones are by Hero Arts. I used washi tape for the pattern on the strip and on the scalloped circle. Sorry, but I tossed all the packaging and I don't know who makes this tape. I used Nestabilities for the circles. The sentiment is from Hero Arts called Birthday Messages - CL139. I just ran my Black Soot Distress Ink around the edge to make the white "pop" a little.

Happy Birthday

For this card I used one of my Creative Memories hexagon punches. The patterned paper is from Graphic 45's Domestic Goddess Collection. I After inking all the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink I placed them in a pattern and then trimmed the edges. I used the open scallop edge punch from EK Success on the blue cardstock. The blue gemstones are from Hero Arts as is the sentiment. The sentiment is from the stamp set Find Joy - CL497. The base is cardstock from PTI.

My plan is to try and stay one step ahead and get the May cards done ahead of time too. I'm not sure how that will work for me, but at least I have good intentions :)

Cards + A Video Tutorial

Happy Birthday

I created some cards using the same stamp but different patterned paper. I really love how they all look different. I added some burlap for texture on this one. I've also added a video tutorial at the end of this post on how to do this technique.

Thinking of You

For this one I added some corrugated paper, buttons and a jute bow for added texture. I love how this card reminds me of Fall colors.

Happy Birthday

I picked up the background stamp when I went to Scrapfest at the Mall of America in September. I've been looking to add more stamps for this technique to my stamp collection.

Happy Birthday

Pink isn't a color I tend to work with very often. When I do I prefer to pair it with black. Black is one of my favorite colors to create with.

Birthday Wishes

Whenever I make cards, tags or books I always do a lot of inking. I decided to go "ink free" on the edges of all of these cards this time. That was a little challenging for me since it always seems so automatic for me to do. I do like how they all turned out.

Below is a tutorial on how to make this type of background. I've made videos before but never a tutorial. If you have any questions please email me or leave a comment below or on my YouTube channel.

I'm On A Roll.......

.....making birthday cards. I'm trying to get ahead, so that's what I focused on this past weekend. I'm also using up scrap patterned paper. I'm not sure who the manufacturer is of the paper I used on the card above. The two below are from Best Creations. I made the flower using crepe paper.

I used an EK Success punch on the card above. I picked it up for a steal of a price one weekend when we went to a TJ Maxx store.

I had taught a mini book class using this paper on the card above. I made many kits using it, so I have a lot of scrap left!

Below are some of products used in making these cards. Thanks for stopping by!
