Meow

Meow

This paper line called Meow from My Mind's Eye is adorable!
For my cover I used one of the Journal Cards and matted it on black cardstock.

Meow

This is the second book that I've create where I have made the spine a little larger.
I like it wider so that more dimensional items can be added.

Meow

I used some of the chipboard pieces on the back cover.
This book measures 6-inches by 5-inches.
There are 12 pages and 11 pockets with photo mats.

I alternated the photo mats using gray and pink cardstock for the pockets on the pages.

I added a few flip photo mats on some of the pages.

I still have enough paper left to create one if not two more books depending on size I choose to make.

Cat Mini Album

Today I'm sharing a mini album I made for my dog groomer. It's a cute 4-inch by 4-inch cat book. I create pet cards for my groomer that she sells to her clients and now she's going to take a few mini albums. I'm starting on a dog one now that I'll share when I finish it.

For the pages I used 4-inch coasters. They are so perfect for this type of project. I picked them up last summer on eBay. I think there were 100 in the pack. I bound the book using spiral binding wires from We R Memory Keepers.

I hung a charm from the binding with jute. I've had alot of my cat embellishments in my stash for quite awhile, so I'm not sure who the manufacturer is.

Here's a top view. I used six coasters for the pages. There are a total of 10 pages and room for 22 photos using the photo mats that are included throughout the book.

For the patterned paper I used DCWV The Pet Stack. The solid papers are also from DCWV. On this page I added dimension by adhering the photo mat with pop dots. I added a brad that says "purr..." On the second page I added a pocket. I used the open scallop punch from EK Success for the border. The pocket holds one photo mat and a tag with cat quote. I typed up three quotes in Word using different fonts and then adhered them to shipping tags.

I left this page blank so the recipient can add a photo or whatever strikes their fancy. On the next page I added a vertical pocket and added a cat quote sticker. I'm not sure who the manufacturer is for this sticker as I used stickers from NRN Designs called Cat Quotes and from Cloud 9 Designs called Simple Thoughts. This pocket also holds two photo mats.

The first page here holds three photo mats and the second one has one mat and one tag. I used another cat quote on the band.

To add dimension to this page I added a metal embellishment to the top of the photo mat. I popped it up with pop dots. I left the next page blank since the paper was so cute. A photo can also be added to it.

On the first page shown here I made a flip book that has five pages. I watched a tutorial on how to make this from my friend Susie over a Creative Cafe. She creates beautiful books! Be sure to check them out if you get a chance. I did make a video of this book that you can see here.

Gaal Creative July Challenge: Animals!

I made this fun mini-book for the challenge going on until July 19th over at Gaal Creative. The winner will have a $30 donation in their name donated to A Place To Bark. What a fantastic organization, if you get the chance check it out.

This paper bag book was relatively inexpensive to make considering I used all the products from my stash. Oh....I did buy a pack of paper bags at the Dollar Store for you guessed it.... $1. I love all the extra flaps and the fact that there are pockets on every page. I glued my pockets together since I didn't plan on putting anything in them. I still have room to add a few extra pictures if I choose to, but for the most part it's finished.

Cat Mini Book

Cat Mini Book

Calvin is the gray and white cat. He's no longer with us and was the most photogenic of all the cats. He always posed for pictures!

Cat Mini Book

The black and white cat is Oscar. He's a sweet cat, but a little of Oscar goes alooong way! This cat took to me from the day we brought him home and he's constantly glued to my hip.

Carmel (a.k.a Baby Girl) is the calico. This cat has an attitude! Even the dog is afraid of her. She's very sweet by nature and always wants to sit on your lap. She never liked me until all the kids moved out.....now she thinks she's my best friend.

After completing the book, I do have a new appreciation for stickers. I've never been a fan of stickers and don't use them very often. I have a ton of them! When I first got into scrapbooking I bought them whenever I saw them. They sure came in handy in making this book.

I really enjoyed making this project and now I'm all fired up to make a book for my dog. Since we're moving in a few weeks, I'll have to try to complete it before I pack up my scrapbook room.

Products Used:
Paper Bags, Chipboard, Bazzill Cardstock, Patterned Paper By Autumn Leaves, Stickers From Various Manufacturers, Ribbon, Gesso, Making Memories Acrylic Paint, Challenge from Gaal Creative.

Friend or Foe?

We had to have one of our cats shaved because she's 18 lbs of chubbiness and doesn't do a very good job of keeping herself clean. Actually, we were going to have her put to sleep, but I just couldn't do it.

The kids have asked to see pictures of Carmel (aka Babygirl) and I've had a hard time getting her to pose for me.

The picture below shows her and Toby having a stare down. He's scared to death of her and she hates him. However, they will co-habitate when I am in my scrapbook room. I might add, this brown cushion she's laying on was bought for Toby. He's been able to lay on it maybe once. Babygirl took it over and barely moves from it.

She looks so much better shaved and I think she feels much better too. She's actually been a little playful....until Toby and our other cat come around.

BG2

She's a sassy girl with ALOT of attitude. She's never like me until all the kids left home. I've saved her life more than once.

OM

This is Oscar Marie. I don't know what to say about him except that he is in his own little world. Always has been. He hates Babygirl, they've never really gotten along, but tolerate each other. He follows me everywhere, drives me crazy, chews paper and scrapbook supplies, unrolls toilet paper and is just plain annoying more times than not. He looks very innocent when sleeping though.

I am Babygirl...Queen of my castle....hear me ROAR!!

A Little Tribute.....

...to Calvin, the best cat in the world! It will be two years since our little Calvin left us. He was about 11, but that's way too young. Calvin always seemed to be more prone to illness than our other cats.

Calvin

I wasn't too keen on the idea of cats when we brought Calvin home, since I've always been more of a dog person. I won't write what I originally said, plus I was scared to death of him. Well, he loved me! He clawed his way up my leg more times than I can count when he was a kitten. I fell in love with him and ended up with three more cats. We gave one to our daughter, since the usually sassy calico "Babygirl" had made it clear that she didn't care for the last one who joined our little "cat" family. Tipper, the one we gave away, was a Ragdoll and just adorable. The poor thing was traumatized by Babygirl. Thank goodness she has a great home now, as she deserves it!

Calvin had personality with a capital P and everyone that came into our home wanted to take him with them. When all the kids left home, they wanted him too, but I would never let that happen. He was so mellow in comparison to the other cats we have. The other two actually drive me quite crazy! He was a happy little fellow, who was perfectly fine just hangin' out by you. He never was one to want to be held and definitely wasn't a lap cat. The kids always said he would let them hold him, but maybe I pestered him too much and that's why he didn't like me to. Let's just say that he "tolerated" me. I always wanted to squeeze him because he reminded me of a cuddly little teddy bear.

Calvin may have mellowed with age, but that wasn't always the case! When he first learned how to jump onto the table, he would entertain everyone with his ability to swing from the chandelier above it. He absolutely loved Christmas, much to our dismay. He took flying leaps into trees and tried to knock them over more than once. One year we came home to find that he had managed to pull the tree skirt all the way into another room, without disturbing the presents under the tree. That takes talent!

Calvin

We still love and miss you Calvin! We'll never find another one quite like you...ever!
