Double Waterfall Folio

Double Waterfall Folio

It's been awhile since I've posted!

That's because I broke my wrist February 8th. It was my right wrist and of course I'm right handed!

I was off work for 4 weeks, which in hindsight wasn't enough time. I should have been off at least another two weeks. I started taking the cast off last week and now am just wearing something around my wrist to keep it stable. I still wear the cast overnight.

I still have some pain and I don't have full mobility yet. I still struggle with some every day things.

I'm dying to start crafting again! Friday night I thought I would try to cut some chipboard to see if it bothered my wrist. Low and behold it didn't so I made this book!

The moral of my story is....if you dog shits and it's icy out.....don't pick it up!

Now on to my book.....

This isn't my own design. I just want to get that out there right from the start.

This Folio design is by Frances Long from Your Book Of Memories.

She is awesome! If you've ever wanted to make a book from scratch and haven't I encourage you to check out her site and see if she has something that you would love to create. I've made tons of books, some my own design and some I've followed tutorials. I've followed Frances for a long time and just recently bought some of her tutorials. She is an excellent teacher. If you've never made a book before she will guide you through the process. You can also find her on YouTube and watch her walk-through's of her books. She links you to her site if you're interested in the tutorial.

For this book I used the paper collection Fetch by Photo Play.

On the cover I used one of the cut-apart's from the collection.

For my ribbon closure I used seam binding. I took faded jeans distress ink and dyed it.

Double Waterfall Folio

On the back cover I used two stickers from the sticker sheet.

Double Waterfall Folio

This Folio measures 6 - 9/16th inches wide by 9 - 1/2 inches tall.

Double Waterfall Folio

The double waterfall will hold 26 photos. All photo mats are made for 4 x 6 photos.

I cut out the two dog photos above from one of the cardstock sheets and mounted them on black cardstock. On the first two photo mats on the waterfall I used cut-parts so those spots wouldn't be used for photos.

Double Waterfall Folio

There are five tags that can be used for journaling. Both sides are white.

Double Waterfall Folio

I added two booklets that will each hold an additional four 4 x 6 photos.

That brings the total of photos that this folio holds to 34!

Double Waterfall Folio

After I took this photo I noticed that I have the bones on the photo on the left going in a different direction. I thought about fixing it, but the bones can go in either direction!

That's it!

I love making Folios! They are my favorite. I will be making more of these in all kinds of themes!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

Bark

Bark

I made this folio and I'm totally in love with it! I started it late Saturday and finished it Monday evening. It was such a quick project and I love that! Even as poky as I am, I would've been able to finish it on Sunday but I had a few other things to do. I followed a tutorial from Ginger over at My Sister's Scrapper. I've been following her for years and I love her projects. I'd love to go to one of the retreats that she teaches at sometime.

This is the first time I've made a folio. I've thought about making one for quite a while and finally took the plunge. After creating this folio there are a few thinks I know I will do differently next time.

I'm not sure about the stickers I added to the right of the cover. I may have added a few too many.  I don't normally use a lot of stickers, but since I have them I decided to go with it.

Bark

I loved this sticker I added to the back cover!

Tons of room inside for photos!

Lots of photo mats that the pocket holds!

I love that the waterfall lifts off the page.

The photo above and below are the two outside spines.

For such a small book you are able to get a lot of photos inside.

I want to make another one with this paper collection by October Afternoon called Bark. I found another collection online so I snapped it up. I'll decorate it a little different. I also found the Meow collection that matches this one so of course I picked that up too. I have a feeling I'll be making more of these folios because they are just so adorable!

Thanks for stopping by!

Another Dog Mini Album

Graphic 45 Raining Cats & Dogs Mini Album

I love making mini albums!

Once again I used the Raining Cats & Dogs collection from Graphic 45. This is an older collection that I've had for awhile. I created two books that you can see here and here. This latest book is made from all the scraps that were left over. I thought I'd have enough to make at least two smaller books, but that's the not case. To make all three books I used a 12x12, 8x8 and 6x6 paper pad and embellishments from the collection. Since I still have quite a few embellishments left, I might try to find another 8x8 paper pad so that I can make a cat album the same size. I have a few sheets of 12x12 paper left and tons of scraps. I can probably use them for making cards.

I left the cover (above) very simple.  I used one of the cut-aparts mounted on black cardstock that I hot glued to the front. I knew this would be a small book. Once I decided on how large the covers were going to be that helped me to determine the size of the binding, pages and spine. This book is four inches wide by five inches in height. There's a lot of room for photos in this little book.

On the spine (below) I used one of the chipboard pieces. I also used Ranger Sticky Back Canvas on the spine.

On the back I used one of the stickers from the collection.

There are six pages. Each page has a pull out mat on the side.

On the inside front and back cover I added a diagonal pocket and a few photo mats along with some cut-aparts from the collection.

I added pieces from collection throughout the book. I only partially adhered them so a photo can be tucked behind them.

This page flips up for more space for photos.

I added one of the pockets and tags from the collection to this page that flips open.

This page has a belly band with photo mats tucked behind it. I took one of the cut-parts and mounted it onto chipboard and added it at the bottom to help keep the mats in place.

That's it. It turned out nice and chunky. There's still plenty of room to add more items that are dimensional. I made the gussets a little bigger just for that reason.

Graphic 45 Raining Cats & Dogs Mini Album

Graphic 45 Raining Cats & Dogs Mini Album

I finally created an album with this gorgeous Graphic 45 pet collection! I don't know how long I've had this paper line sitting on a shelf. Too long, that's for sure!

I buy the collections I love and then I just can't get myself to cut into them and start a project. I visualize it, but don't make it a reality. I'm not going to say how many collections of paper lines I have just waiting for me to make something out of them. Not all are Graphic 45, but quite a few are!

For the cover I did use some of the flower cardstock die-cuts from the collection along with flowers I had in my stash. I think they are from Petaloo and some others I picked up somewhere. I used some bling I had on hand for the flower centers.

There are fourteen pages total including the front and back cover. I had planned to use some black book rings I have but the book ended up too chunky and I had to go buy some larger rings.

I love this paper! I tried to coordinate the pages that open together.

This page has a pull out photo mat.

This flap opens up for room for more photos.

The page to the left has two pockets that hold two photo mats and two tags.

The page to the right holds a frame. I pulled out an old Sizzix die I've had forever to make the frame. The white cardstock can be pulled out and used as a template to cut a photo to slide in it's place.

I love the patterned paper on the page to the left!

This page opens up to add photos and there is another pull out photo mat.

The page to the left has a booklet that opens (shown below). I also added one of the cardstock pockets and a tag from the collection. The page to the right has a pocket that holds a booklet (shown below).

The page to the left holds two photo mats as does the page to the right.

I added another frame to hold a photo. This time I changed the orientation on the page. The page to the right holds two more photo mats.

The last two pages. The right page has a photo waterfall.

I love the colors in this collection.

Graphic 45 Raining Cats & Dogs Mini Album

It's quite a chunky book.

I love creating the books that don't use binding rings, but for some reason books with rings hold a special place in my heart. They are my favorite to create!

Graphic 45 Raining Cats & Dogs Mini Album

Love the paper I used for the back cover!

I hand dyed all the ribbon for the rings. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink to coordinate the colors.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look!
