Christmas Mini Album

I made two more mini albums like this one that I made in September. I just love the size of these books. They measure 5 -1/8-inches by 8-inches. To me they are just the perfect size. For my cover I used a Sizzix die and cut a bunch of the branches. I then cut them apart and made them into a wreath. The embellshment came from my stash of wreath making supplies. The bow is made from some ribbon in my stash using a tutorial from Gina K. I took some classes from Bella Crafts Connection at the Mall of America and she was kind enough to let me tape her creating one. Bows are so hard for me! I either have to use a fork or another thing I have to make bows with. 

I decided to add two waterfalls to this book. One on the inside front and back cover.  I wasn't sure if I'd need to increase the spine or not. Turns out it worked out and the spine is the same size as the other books I made. 

I just love that there are so many pockets and places for photo mats.

I came across this paper by accident. I had stopped into Hobby Lobby for a pack of Kraft paper and walked by a display of paper that was 50% off. I looked at it, went on my way and went pack and loved it so much I picked up the 12x12 and the 6x6-inch pads. It's called Old World Winter. It has a little bit of texture to it and I love that.

That's it! I didn't add any embellishments to the inside. There is room, but I think the paper is beautiful that it's doesn't really need anything else. I want the book to have room for photos and or journaling. 

My next post will be another book using the same concept just changed up a bit.

My Front Door Wreath Plus Another One!

I finally finished the wreath for my front door! When I came across this sled, I knew I wanted it on my wreath. I also wanted the plaid ribbon. 

I love how it turned out! 

It's so much fun to check out all the different items available for wreaths. I find myself taking forever walking through the aisles in the store. I think I said this in another blog post and I'm going to say it again…. I'm pretty sure I've definitely found an addiction for something that is on the same level for me as paper crafting! I just wish I would have tried making wreaths before now. 

This is the wreath I was working on in between the first one I thought I was going to use for my front door and the one above. 

I like this one too, but I already have one on my back door. The only other doors I have are bedroom and bathroom doors. If I put them there, no one would see them!

Wreath

I kind of bought more bulbs than I needed when I made my first wreath. I changed up the design of it so I had plenty left to make some more wreaths. All I had to do was get the wreaths and a few other items.

This is one that I made for my front door. However…….while I was out picking up a few items yesterday, I came across something that I want to incorporate on a wreath for myself. 

I have another wreath almost finished, but I can't add what I want to add to it. That means I'll finish that one and start on one for my front door! 

I was crazy enough to venture out to a few stores on Friday and Saturday. It wasn't too bad because I knew exactly what I wanted and wasn't "browsing". I only encountered one long line and after I got into it, it started moving pretty quickly. 

While I was trying to find a parking spot at Jo-Ann's Craft Store a dog came flying out of a car and the woman who I assume was the owner came barreling after it. The dog had a leash on and looked to be a springer spaniel. I just hope that poor woman was able to catch the dog or that someone who the dog ran by was able to grab the leash. There was so much traffic and the dog was running toward a busy road. My dog is a runner and he would do the exact same thing if he got out of the car. It would be my worst nightmare as I'd never be able to run as fast as the woman I saw running after her dog! 

Did I mention how addicting making a wreath is? I've always wanted to make wreaths and I'm glad I gave it a try…..maybe!

Christmas Wreath

I love wreaths! I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to them. I thought it was high time I dive in and make one. I was inspired by two wreaths I saw on two different blogs. One is from The Happier Homemaker and the other one is from Learning, Creating, Living.

I knew that I wanted to use a foam wreath and I knew my colors were going to be red and gold.  I picked up the bow and all the bulbs at the Dollar Store in a variety of sizes. I can't make a bow to save my life. I think I need to take a class on how to make them.

Originally I hadn't planned on using anything around the wreath. Thankfully I held the bow up to the wreath before I started. After seeing all the white peek through, I made a quick trip to Michael's to pick up some burlap. I'm so glad I found some that had a gold sparkly thread running through it.

I started by glueing the bulbs around the inside center. 

Then I just randomly glued all different sizes all around. 

I'm so glad I decided to use the burlap! I love burlap and because of that last minute decision it changed how I decided to finish off the wreath. I liked how the burlap looked behind the bulbs so I decided that I didn't want to cover the whole wreath.

I bought quite a few bulbs not knowing how many it would take to cover a 16-inch wreath. Because I didn't cover the whole wreath I have plenty left to make at least one more wreath, and possibly two. 

The only injury I sustained while making this wreath was just about taking off my tip of my middle finger on my right hand by accidentally touching a bulb that I had just added glue to. And man did I do a little jumping around! I was trying to peel the glue off while it was burning. It hurt like hell! I don't have a blister on my finger, but I have a small white spot. I then almost did the same thing to my thumb on my left hand. At that point I stopped for the night and finished the wreath this morning.
