Bon Appetit Recipe Pocket Book

Another project done and only four more to go!

Still working my way through all the class kits I brought home from Scrapfest that I wasn't able to finish.

This class was called Bon Appetit Recipe Pocket Book. The vendors for this one were Canvas Corp and Marvy Uchida.

Isn't this paper gorgeous! The kraft, black and red are really what caught my eye. Since this is one of my favorite color combinations AND it was a recipe book, I couldn't pass up this class.

The burlap tag and mini closepin are so cute!

There's ample room for adding more recipe cards to the 12 that were included.

I added the red twine throughout the book and the red button. I thought some of the pages needed that "pop" of color.

I also used some foam dots to add some dimension to some of the diecuts.

The back looks almost identical to the front.

This really was a fun book to make. As we worked, they brought projects around for us to look at and take photos. I left this class with so many ideas swirling around in my head!

We received this fun Halloween paper and a circle punch for taking the class! I think I see a mini book in my future ;)

Claudine Hellmuth: Your Inner Artist Canvas

I really like the canvas I made in the class I took with Claudine Hellmuth at Scrapfest! I've worked with stretched canvas attached to wood before and I've also used Claudine's Sticky Back Canvas. It really makes a big difference however when you actually take a class and use it. After seeing Claudine demo her Sticky Back Canvas I really came home with alot of ideas that are floating around in my head. So many projects, will I ever have time to get them all done?!

The canvas that I've worked with is three-quarters inch wide. This is a chunky canvas and is two and a quarter inch wide. I really like it! I bought some canvas for a project, so keep watching for a post about it.

Of course I had Claudine sign my canvas!

Claudine has some new mini paints out that I fell in love with! Her products were flying off the shelf at Archiver's at the Mall of America so I was unable to buy them. Now I'll have to wait until my next trip to the Twin Cities or I'll just have to order them online. Where I live we don't always have access to the latest and greatest products :(

The Creative Mediums will be helpful with projects. I bought the "Bloom" foam and clear stamp collection. What appeals to me is the layering effect you get when using these stamps.

I also bought the Rock-a-Blocks. You can use them with clear acrylic, foam or unmounted rubber stamps. I've heard they work well for people with arthritis. Because Rheumatoid Arthritis had damaged my left wrist and my right one isn't much better, I have problems stamping sometimes. Hopefully these blocks will make it easier for me.

Scrapfest 2011

I made it through Scrapfest 2011! I absolutely LOVED it! I definitely want to go again next year. This is the Artful Journal I made in the class I took with Tim Holtz. Scrapfest runs from a Friday through Sunday with registration starting on Thursday around 4pm. I wish it was longer!

Inside the front cover I added a tag that I had Tim sign.

There are alot of fun pages and pockets on the inside.

I really enjoyed this class!

Of course I had to have Tim sign the back of my book :)

I got in line at 8am and class started at 9am. I was third in line so I was able to get a great spot to sit.

I met a very nice woman named France from Canada. We were very lucky to sit almost dead center in the front row.

Since I was so early I was able to watch Tim, Claudine Hellmuth and crew set up for class.

I really enjoyed all the product demonstrations. Every chance I had, I was up by Archiver's watching them in between classes. I didn't stand in line for any of the make and takes that were free with the registration fee. I really had no desire to do that. I went for the classes (I took eight, but one was cancelled) and the demos.

Tomorrow I'll post the canvas I created in Claudine Hellmuth's class.
