Thinking of You

Thinking of You

My card today is for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge: Sketch 222. The sketch is shown below.

I've had this stamp set with matching die set from Avery Elle for quite some time and have never used it. I think it's retired or retiring, but is still available at some online stores. When I saw this sketch, it just clicked that I wanted to use it for my card. I just did a very subtle stenciled band behind my sentiment.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge blog is looking for design team members. I'm entering this card in their design team call.

Products used listed below.

Supplies:
Cardstock
Stamp - Avery Elle - Laurels
Die - Avery Elle - Laurels
Versafine Onyx Black Ink
Distress Oxide Ink - peeled paint and antique linen
Altenew Crisp Inks - ruby red, frosty pink, coral berry, buttercream and warm sunshine
Tim Holtz Stencil - dot fade

Thinking Of You

Thinking of You

I love working with Perfect Pearls but I always forget about them! I stamped this background the Hero Arts Clings Leaf & Floral background stamp (CG405) using Versamark. I picked out four colors of Perfect Pearls and brushed them over the design. I read somewhere that you can take a Swiffer cloth and rub it over the top after you brush off the excess powder. It worked pretty well. I also sprayed it with Plaid clear acrylic matte sealer. The sentiment is also from Hero Arts from an older set called Everyday Sayings (CL342). I have to remember to use Perfect Pearls more often!

  Thinking of You

It was hard to get a good photo of this card. For the sentiment I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

Alcohol Ink Backgrounds

IMG_2598

I've made quite a few cards lately and I'm behind in blogging about them. Because of that I thought I'd just pick a few at a time and do some random posts going forward until I get through all of them.

All three of these cards were made using glossy cardstock and alcohol inks.

The stamp set used for these cards is from Hero Arts called Messages With Flourish.

CAS Colours & Sketches: Challenge #118

CAS Colours & Sketches: Challenge #118

I thought I'd try the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge. After reading the rules of the challenge I realized that I didn't have Stampin' Up! cardstock. You could still participate without it so I tried to  match the colors as best I could. I found three different colors of green cardstock in my stash and decided to go with them. Even though there are three different colors, in the photo it almost looks like two are the same.

This is a very CAS card! Lots of open or white space and minimal layers and embellishments. This type of card always challenges me. I always want to keep adding more stuff!

For my sentiment I used a new stamp set called Handwritten Borders that I purchased from Simon Says Stamp! I used a die from Memory Box called Charlotte Border for my green diecuts.

Thinking Of You Card Swap

I belong to a group of ladies called Scrappy Girls that do a lot of swaps. They swap tags, cards and books. Since I didn't join in the fun the last few months with the mini book, tag and the Christmas card swap, I thought I'd start the new year right and participate in a card swap in January!

We did a "Thinking of You" and "Birthday" theme. The card above is the card I created for the "Thinking of You" swap. I just received my cards from the swap yesterday. Below you can see all the "Thinking of You" cards I received.

I used a kraft base for my card with just a piece of red as my background, leaving an 1/8 of an inch border. I used my "new" Teresa Collins eBosser Sophisticated embossing folder with kraft card stock for my next background again leaving an 1/8 inch border.

I stamped the flower image using a Sweet 'n Sassy stamp set called  Celebrate Today. The image was stamped with Tim Holtz Festive Berries distress ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. For the sentiment I used a Hero Arts stamp set called Thinking of You. I lightly inked all the edges with Tim Holtz black soot distress ink.

Now for the cards I received! I can't give credit to all of the ladies because some of them didn't sign their card unfortunately. I've added the name of the person below each card if I know who created it. Update: I've now added the name of the each person who created each card.

Trio Of Cards Using Jillibean Soup Cardstock

Find Joy Every Day

My intention was to make these cards without doing any inking on them. It didn't last! I love the look of the white, but to me they just needed that touch of black around the edge to make them pop a little.

Thank You

To stamp the image for each card I used Smooch Ink. I really like how the image doesn't stamp completely. I also like that some parts are thicker and some are lighter. I think I'll experiment with other images using Smooch.

Thinking of You

When creating these, my first thought was to just have the die cut opening with the plaid pattern showing through. They really looked plain. That's when I tried the white frame around the openings and to me they looked so much better!

Sorry for the sporadic posts and long periods in between each one. My husband has been ill and I craft and blog when I get a chance. Because of that you may see several posts in a row and then a week or more without anything. Hoping things turn around soon and we'll be back to normal.
